    Prysmian, specialist in the energy and telecom cable industry, has been awarded a contract worth more than € 300 million with Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE) to develop submarine cable links to connect three planned offshore wind farms to the mainland power grid in France.

    Siemens will provide the complete offshore wind power plant solutions for the Hohe See offshore wind project 90 km north of the German island Borkum. The inter-array cabling contract with a value of approximately € 80 million has been awarded to VBMS.

Offshore wind investments in 2016 reached a record € 18.2 billion with 4.9 GW of new capacity financed. Germany, the Netherlands and the UK were the only countries to install in 2016 and the first 8 MW turbine went into the water at Burbo Bank Extension wind farm.
