    EDP Renováveis and ENGIE consortium is awarded CfD for UK offshore wind project

    EDP Renováveis, S.A. (EDPR) and ENGIE announced that Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited, a joint venture company currently owned by EDPR (77 %) and ENGIE (23 %), has been awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) for the delivery of 950 MW of offshore wind generation at £ 57.50/MWh.     New maintenance contracts for OWF DanTysk and OWF Sandbank

    The independent service provider Deutsche Windtechnik and the energy supplier Vattenfall are expanding their cooperation in offshore maintenance: On the one hand, Vattenfall has extended the duration of its cooperation agreement with Deutsche Windtechnik in the area of maintenance for all steel structures at the offshore wind farm DanTysk. On the other, the service provider is now also responsible for these important maintenance tasks at Sandbank, Vattenfall's second major offshore wind farm project Sandbank, which went into operation in July 2017.     Province of Groningen urges minister to drive forward farms north of the Dutch Wadden Sea Islands

    Offshore wind farm conditions in the Wadden Sea Area above Groningen are excellent. That is the outcome of the report, commissioned by the province of Groningen, and presented to the Minister of Economic Affairs. Now the province calls on the Minister of Economic Affairs to facilitate the realization of many more wind farms in the area. This will contribute to a future without natural gas, a low carbon energy system and create hundreds of jobs. Read more

    International classification society Bureau Veritas has issued new rules for the Classification of Offshore Service Vessels and Tugs, including new class notations for pipelay vessels, accommodation units, offshore construction vessels and offshore support vessels. Read more

    US Offshore wind industry announced to build first Jones Act compliant installation vessel

    Zentech and Renewables Resources International announced to build the first Jones Act compliant U.S. installation vessel. "This vessel will provide the now evolving U.S. Offshore Wind Industry with a much needed and cost competitive marine logistic solution,” stated Zentech in a press release. The U.S. Jones Act requires for all vessels that are transporting goods to and from U.S. ports, such as components for an offshore wind farm, to be U.S. built and operated. Zentech Incorporated is a marine engineering and naval architecture firm specializing in the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries. Read more
