    The Innovation has successfully installed all 35 foundations for Westermost Rough offshore wind farm.
    GeoSea finalized the installation of the foundations for the Westermost Rough offshore wind farm project. This Dong Energy project consists of 35 wind turbine positions 9 km from the coast near Hull in the north east of England, UK. Read more

  • Four companies team up to build offshore wind farms in France

    After a national public tender process the results are available. The four corporations GDF SUEZ, EDP Renewables, Neoen Marine und Areva want to work together to build offshore wind farms with a capacity of about 1,000 MW in France. The start of construction is planned for 2019. Read more

  • Funding for floating wind turbine has been secured

    The Gicon FOF will allow installations in water depths of up to 500 m.
    The Gicon-group is receiving a grant of approximately € 5.25 million for its floating offshore foundation (SOF) from the German federated state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The notification of the funding decision means that the manufacture, installation and testing of Germany's first ever floating wind power plant is now on firm financial footing. The total investment volume for the FOF is approximately € 18 million. Read more

    The globally installed offshore wind power capacity has nearly reached 7 GW.
    In the new Wind Energy Report Germany 2013 Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) researchers confirm that offshore wind energy is increasing worldwide. While the UK is leading with 50 % offshore market share, more than 2 GW are under construction in Germany. Japan enters the offshore market with prototypes of floating turbines. Read more
  • K2 Management to build global offshore database

    The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), has engaged K2 Management to build a global installation database for offshore wind. The objective is to provide NREL and thereby the US wind industry with easy accessible data on installation times, correlation effects, implications and processes to secure use of best practice and avoid delays and cost overrun on all the planned US offshore wind projects.   • Improving monitoring for offshore wind farms

    Cover of the study 'Review of environmental data associated with post-consent monitoring of licence conditions of offshore wind farms (MMO 1031)', published by the Marine Management Organisation.
    In collaboration with several environmental institutions, the environmental analysis company Fugro has performed a comprehensive study on the subject of 'post-consent monitoring' for offshore wind farms. It makes recommendations on how to improve the monitoring of offshore wind turbines. Read more
