Offshore wind outlook for India

The FOWIND consortium launched its new report today: "From Zero To Five GW: Offshore Wind Outlook for Gujarat And Tamil Nadu (2018-2032)". This study is a significant step forward in preparing a roadmap for the offshore wind sector in India by the GWEC led Facilitating Offshore Wind In India (FOWIND) consortium.

Buss Offshore Solutions participates in WINDEA Offshore

As of 1 January 2018, the offshore wind service company WINDEA Offshore acquires with Buss Offshore Solutions GmbH & Co. KG another shareholder. In the future, the already very extensive service portfolio for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms of the WINDEA Group will be supplemented by the terminals and logistics services of the Buss Group.

This year the WindEurope invitation to the annual sector gathering was to Amsterdam. Exhibitor and visitor numbers have been better in the past, though, and the mood too.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last week confirms the intention of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to collaborate with Taiwan International Ports Corporation for developing Taichung harbor in Taiwan for the Offshore wind business.

A recent study by German research institution Fraunhofer IWES concludes that the availability of offshore wind turbines has increased compared to the results of a previous study from 2013.

MHI Vestas will repurpose a decommissioned, oil-fired power plant into a state-of-the-art painting and logistics facility for its 80-metre turbine blades. The facility is expected to be operational in April 2018.

The European offshore wind energy market was 13.4 GW in 2016 and is expected to reach 29.8 GW by 2024 expanding at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 12.0 % from 2016 to 2024. These are the results of the market report “Europe Offshore Wind Energy Market, By Geography - Growth, Future Prospects and Competitive Analysis, 2016 - 2024” published by Credence Inc., a global market research and counseling firm based out of San Jose, California.

EDP Renováveis and ENGIE consortium is awarded CfD for UK offshore wind project

EDP Renováveis, S.A. (EDPR) and ENGIE announced that Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited, a joint venture company currently owned by EDPR (77 %) and ENGIE (23 %), has been awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) for the delivery of 950 MW of offshore wind generation at £ 57.50/MWh.
