Major energy companies sign offshore wind declaration

Ahead of the Energy Council in Luxembourg on June 6, 2016, 11 energy companies signed a joint declaration stating that offshore wind can be fully competitive with coal and gas by 2025, achieving a cost of 80 €/MWh and below.

A2SEA signs agreement with UK suppliers for Dudgeon and Burbo Bank Extension

Danish offshore wind installer A2SEA has signed agreements with two UK ship repair and conversion specialists in relation with two upcoming UK projects: A&P Tyne for Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm and Cammell Laird for Burbo Bank Extension.

Siemens will deliver 102 wind energy plants of the type SWT-7.0-154 for the offshore wind farm East Anglia One. This order by ScottishPower Renewables, a subsidy of Iberdrola S.A., has a volume of 714 MW and is the company’s biggest order so far, when it comes to capacity.

The Scotland-based company, Inverlussa Marine Services, will provide offshore support for two-and-a-half years during the construction phase of Dong Energy’s Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm. The offshore support will take place within a joint venture with Mainprize Offshore Ltd.

4,000 GW of untapped offshore wind energy in the USA

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory estimates that there are currently 4,223 GW of untapped offshore wind energy in the USA. Wind Energy Update has now released the whitepaper “Opportunities in the U.S. Offshore Wind Market” to help wind developers and EPCs to use this potential.
