Alstom's offshore turbine receives its first certification

Alstom has completed the performance measurement of its 6 MW offshore wind turbine Haliade 150 at Le Carnet in France.  The facility was certified after three months of measurements in accordance with IEC (power curve). The next phase will focus on comprehensive testing of the system in connection with diagnostics, reliability and maintenance of major components such as the generator, pitch control, converter and the yaw system.

The onshore tests carried out with the first Haliade 150-6 MW since March 2012 have provided extensive data on the performance curve. According to Alstom, this confirmed the technical specifications and correlated well with the design models of the Haliade. During the next phase, the remaining tests will be completed as part of the type certification, allowing the complete offshore wind turbine to be certified before the end of 2013. In addition, various training courses will be carried out at Le Carnet.

Jordi Puigcorbé, Vice President of Alstom Wind Innovation adds: "During this last year, the activity in Le Carnet has been massive in terms of measurements and test work. These have been focused on the validation of the characteristics and the performance of the Haliade 150 wind turbine according to Alstom’s internal protocols and the main international standards."
