MPI Workboats secures long-term contract

Monday, 17 August, 2015 - 10:00

MPI Workboats (MPIW) secured a 15-year service charter on the Westermeerwind nearshore wind farm. The vessel for the services will be MPI Dorothea.

The Westermeerwind windfarm is located on the Dutch IJsselmeer and will have 48 Siemens wind turbine generators with a capacity of 3 MW each installed along the shore edge. The vessel MPI Dorothea will work out of the town Lemmer, which lies in the Dutch province Friesland.

For this charter, MPIW developed a long-term service strategy which involves a new light-weight access platform to be mounted on the foredeck. This platform will be located 5 m above sea level and thereby allow service technicians to step directly onto the turbine platform.
