Dong Energy chooses MHI Vestas for Borkum Riffgrund 2

Dong Energy has chosen MHI Vestas Offshore Wind as preferred supplier for the proposed delivery of the V164-8.0 MW wind turbine for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in Germany. The preferred supplier status is a result of a competitive tender conducted by Dong.

With average cost overruns of 20%, German offshore wind farms are better than other major projects: a large-scale project in Germany will end up costing 73% more on average than planned.

The Netherlands hustle things on offshore wind

The Netherlands will launch two 350 MW offshore wind tenders in December 2015. Subsidy and licences will be made available to the lowest bidder for sites 1 and 2 of the Borssele wind farm zone.
