Siemens completed further offshore grid connection

Siemens has handed over SylWin1, the third North Sea grid connection this year, to its customer TenneT. With a capacity of 864 MW SylWin1 is the world’s most powerful offshore grid connection.

ANTS Offshore starts shuttle service

ANTS Offshore has launched a new service to supply North Sea wind farms. The DP2 vessel Abis Dundee will gather cargo from as many clients as possible to increase the transport volume and reduce prices.

SAL Heavy Lift succeeds in the offshore wind energy sector: German engineering and services group Bilfinger was awarded the test pile contract for the Wikinger offshore wind farm project on the Baltic Sea and chose SAL Heavy Lift as subcontractor to transport and install the test piles and equipment with their DP Class 2 vessel MV Lone.

Neart na Gaoithe to use new technologies

Mainstream Renewable Power announced that its Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm will use two new technologies: one is the new Offshore Transmission Module (OTM) from Siemens, the other is High Wind’s Boom Lock system.

Bitek will clear the way for Nordergründe

The German ordnance clearance service Bitek Bergungsdienst was awarded a contract by grid operator TenneT to clear the path for offshore wind farm Nordergründe. The company will survey a 28 km long undersea cable route for the grid connection of Nordergründe, to locate and remove any present ordnance. Tanja Peschel

Bladt secures another jacket-order

Iberdrola has selected Bladt Industries as foundation supplier for the Wikinger offshore wind farm situated in the German part of the Baltic Sea. Iberdrola and Bladt Industries have signed a contract for the fabrication of 41 jacket foundations and 164 pin piles.

A bouquet from Siemens

At the EWEA Offshore in Copenhagen, Siemens brought along a whole bouquet of news to present: decentralized high-voltage alternating currents (HVAC) are, in future, to replace large conventional platforms, the SWT-6.0-154 will be set to 7 MW, and Siemens has secured itself as turbine supplier for the offshore wind park Veja Mate as a bonus.

The expansion of offshore wind energy can no longer remain dependent on individual countries, and must in future be planned and realised as a European project.

Alstom wins 3-year service contract for Sheringham Shoal

Alstom has won a three-year service contract for the substations at the 317 MW Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm in England, off the coast of North Norfolk. Sheringham Shoal features 88 Siemens turbines with a capacity of 3.6 MW each.
