East Anglia ONE awards ODE Client Representatives contract

International engineering and operations support services contractor ODE, an integral part of the DORIS Group, has been awarded a consultancy framework agreement by ScottishPower Renewables for the provision of client representatives during construction activities for the East Anglia ONE Offshore Windfarm. The agreement is the latest development in a ten-year relationship between ODE and ScottishPower Renewables, which plans to invest £2.5 billion in the East Anglia ONE project.

World's most powerful commercial wind turbine successfully installed

A hat-trick of offshore wind industry firsts has been achieved within a fortnight in North-east Scotland after the world’s most powerful single turbine was successfully installed on April 9th for Vattenfall’s European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC). The turbine is the first of 11 to be deployed at the facility in Aberdeen Bay. Two turbines will have a capacity of 8.8 MW, the other nine will have a capacity of 8.4 MW

Arkona offshore project still on course

The heart of the Arkona offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea has been completed on schedule. The electric offshore transformer station has now been successfully installed at a water depth of almost 30 meters. Moving the so-called "topside" from a barge onto the foundation with the crane ship Oleg Strasnov was the installation of the world's heaviest alternating current platform, which had previously been lifted in one block on the high seas.

Exclusive delivery contract for Hornsea Project Two

Siemens Gamesa has been awarded a contract for the delivery and service of turbines with a combinded capayity of 1,386 MW. The project is being developed by the Danish energy group Ørsted in British waters.

Siemens Gamesa to supply 8 MW direct-drive offshore turbine to 500 MW project in France

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will supply 62 units of its new 8 MW offshore wind turbine, the SG 8.0-167 DD, to the 500 MW Saint Brieuc project off the coasts of Brittany. The ordered direct drive wind turbine will replace Adwen’s AD 8-180 model after Siemens Gamesa has decided to focus on offshore direct drive platform.

Nordsee One offshore wind farm starts commercial operation

332 MW Nordsee One offshore wind farm, located approximately 40 km north of the island of Juist, achieved full completion. The project was fully commissioned on schedule and below its total budget of €1.2 billion.

Nearshore project Nordergründe put into operation

The last of a total of 18 turbines of the 111 MW wind farm Nordergründe was connected to the grid under the project management of the Bremen developer wpd.

Siemens Gamesa to supply 950 MW to Vattenfall for three offshore projects in Denmark

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been selected by Vattenfall to supply close to 1 GW at three offshore wind power plants being developed in Danish waters.

Statoil awards battery contract in Batwind project

Hywind Scotland, the world’s first floating wind farm, will next year be equipped with a battery to store power from the wind farm. The purpose is to “teach” the battery when to hold back and store electricity, and when to send power to the grid, thus increasing value of the power.

Offshore wind project Rampion starts power generation

The offshore wind farm Rampion in the English Channel has started generating electricity. According to E.ON, the first turbine was commissioned. 115 additional turbines will be connected to the grid in stages over the next few months.
